Services

Dr. Mike Mah offers four core services, all delivered directly by him to a small caseload of adults. Each begins with an initial consultation, which is where he can properly evaluate whether the practice is the right fit and what kind of ongoing care makes sense.

Consultation

$750 75-minute initial evaluation

The initial consultation is a formal 75-minute psychiatric evaluation. Dr. Mike Mah takes the full time to understand what is going on, review any prior history and current medications, and put together an initial assessment with treatment recommendations. This visit is required before any ongoing care can begin, and it is also the honest first step in figuring out whether his practice is the right place for you. If it isn't, he will say so and help point you in a better direction.

Medication Management

$400 per 25-minute follow-up

Medication management is one of the areas the practice is built around. Dr. Mike Mah treats medication decisions as clinical judgment calls rather than defaults. He is comfortable prescribing when it is warranted, is thoughtful about interactions and side effects, and is equally comfortable helping patients safely reduce or stop medications when the plan should change. Deprescribing is real clinical work and it is one of the things this practice takes seriously.

Follow-up medication visits are 25 minutes. The cadence depends on the plan and the medication involved, from more frequent early on to quarterly or twice-yearly maintenance for stable patients.

Therapy

Please inquire 50-minute sessions

Dr. Mike Mah takes a select number of patients on for hourly therapy. His approach draws primarily from a psychodynamic foundation with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and themes of acceptance and value-based living. Because therapy takes a substantial time commitment and requires a specific kind of clinical fit, availability is limited and depends on his assessment of compatibility with each patient.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.

Therapy Referral

No separate fee part of ongoing care

For patients who need therapy but for whom Dr. Mike Mah isn't the right therapist, he provides a short list of hand-selected therapist recommendations matched to that patient's evaluation, needs, and goals. This is different from a generic directory. Every therapist on the list is someone he knows well enough to send his own patients to, chosen for the individual patient rather than pulled from a database.

There is no separate fee for a referral. Recommendations are provided as part of ongoing care where indicated.

Kratom and 7-OH dependence

A specialized focus of the practice

Dr. Mike Mah treats adults who use kratom, kratom extracts, or concentrated 7-OH products and want to stop. Treatment is discreet, outpatient, and individualized, including medication support with a gradual buprenorphine start when appropriate, alongside care for the anxiety, sleep, or pain concerns that often drive use. The program has its own dedicated page.

Insurance and fees

Dr. Mike Mah does not accept insurance in his private practice. For patients with out-of-network mental health benefits, the office provides a superbill you can submit to your insurance for potential partial reimbursement. Contact your insurance to confirm your out-of-network benefits before your visit.

Patients who prefer to use insurance can be seen at Century City Psychiatry, his associated group practice, where a hand-selected team of clinicians delivers care under his direct clinical supervision.
